12.4 HOTEL ROOM BLOCKS, GOVERNMENT RATES

To determine the number of rooms to block, check the statistics from previous ICASSPs in Appendix E (under preparation), and take into consideration the availability of alternate hotel rooms close to the ICASSP hotel. If alternate hotels are not adequately close to the ICASSP site, arrange for shuttle bus service for attendees.

Many attendees travel on government contracts which limit the room rate for which they can be reimbursed. Arrange for at least 50 and as many as 100 government rate rooms in the initial contract.

Make sure that committee members, tutorial presenters, invited speakers, etc. who have been given complimentary rooms make reservations for these rooms.
