The position of Technical Program Chairperson is a key position, nearly as
important as that of the General Chairperson. This is the first officer
normally selected, and this appointment requires the consent of the
Conference Board.
The Technical Program Chairperson should have experience in the writing,
reviewing, and presentation of technical papers and in organizing, chairing,
and presenting at ICASSP. The person chosen must be of substantial
technical stature and managerial skill to get a first class job done
expeditiously.
The Technical Program Chairperson is responsible for implementing
all phases of the ICASSP technical program. This includes:
- 1.
- Leadership and stimulation of the technical program.
- 2.
- Developing the Call-for-Papers with the Technical Committees.
- 3.
- Initiation of plenary, or invited sessions.
- 4.
- Coordination of the tutorials with the SP Education Committee
- 5.
- Establishing a review policy with the Technical Committees,
and submitting it to the Conference Board for approval.
- 6.
- Preparation of submitted papers for review by the technical
committees.
- 7.
- Faithful execution of paper acceptance/rejection decisions.
- 8.
- Organization of the papers into sessions, and selection of
session chairpersons.
- 9.
- Procurement of written material required for the conference record.
- 10.
- Scheduling the times and places for each session.
- 11.
- Coordination of Advance Program, Proceedings, and Final Program.
