IEEE regulations require us to invite the local IEEE chapter to participate in an ICASSP with us. This is often beneficial to both the SP Society and the conference committee, since local chapters can often offer volunteers to help run ICASSP, and beneficial to the local chapter, since we can offer them financial assistance. The General Chairperson should monitor the interactions with the local chapter to ensure that no serious problems arise. Normally the local chapter receives a portion of any ICASSP surplus.
