7.9 ICASSP REGISTRATION FEE STRUCTURE

The ICASSP registration fee is usually the ICASSP revenue item that is adjusted so that the ICASSP budget shows a reasonable surplus.

There are some general guidelines to be used in setting ICASSP registration fees. IEEE policy requires that registration fees for non-members at IEEE-sponsored conferences be substantially higher (25% to 50%) than the fees for IEEE members. (Members of co-sponsored ICASSPs should receive the same consideration as IEEE members.) Those registering in advance, should of course receive a modest discount. The student (and emeritus/retiree) fee should be set as low as possible. One method is to set the student fee approximately equal to the price of the Proceedings. Another method is to set the student scale at one-half the regular scale plus ten dollars. The SP Society has a policy that there should be a special $25 registration fee available to IEEE student members who choose not to receive a Proceedings. Recent ICASSPs have also included a one-day $25 fee for visitors restricted to the exhibits areas.

If the proceedings are to be mailed, include the mailing fee in the registration fee. The full registration fee should include the banquet fee.
