In 1981 the ASSP Society, now the SP Society, on the recommendation of a study group, created the Conference Board. The stated mission of the SP Conference Board was to act as the agent of The Society's AdCom in administering the Society's conferences and workshops. Thereafter, ICASSP Conference Committees have reported to the Conference Board. The Conference Board reports to the AdCom.
In the following sections, the functions and responsibilities of the Conference Board are described. Section 2 describes the typical involvement of the Conference Board with an ICASSP Conference Committee, and in section 3, the Society bylaw describing the Conference Board is given. The report of the study group on the role of a Conference Board and the current membership of the board are given in Appendix F.
